Shasta Taiko was one of the groups featured in the 1998 Collegiate Taiko Invitational (CTI), now known as the Intercollegiate Taiko Invitational (ITI), concert. First established in 1995, ITI is one of the biggest gatherings of the collegiate taiko drumming community; it brings together over 180 collegiate taiko players, who have the opportunity to learn from and play with professional players of North American taiko. The concert showcases performances from many different generations of taiko - from the taiko pioneers to new players pushing taiko in innovative ways.
