The first Sakura Taiko Festival was held in the spring of 2013 in a small dance studio at the Mark H Rooney Taiko School. Since then, it has grown to a full day of free, family-friendly taiko performances among Washington DC’s famous cherry blossoms. Each year, the festival welcomes a variety of North American taiko groups and showcases different styles, celebrating Japanese-American cultural and artistic traditions. This program revisits landmark performances from 2022-2024 Sakura Taiko Festivals.
