Today, we are highlighting the legendary Grandmaster Seiichi Tanaka, TaikoVentures Senior Vocationist and the father of North American Taiko!
Tanaka Sensei was recently diagnosed with a rare condition that requires a specific medicine that is exorbitantly expensive within the American healthcare system (over $300,000/year). TaikoVentures has been paying for quarterly trips to and from Japan, where he is able to access the same drug at an affordable price.
In this video, Tanaka Sensei also shares the story behind the bachi he is contributing to our upcoming Members’ Raffle. On each bachi, he’s written the word “Hiryu”—the meaning which he originally learned from his teacher, Grandmaster Daihachi Oguchi. 🐉
